the to-see list

i'm finally starting to get my love of movies back. it's one of the things i lost in the ex-aftermath, and the loss itself has kinda baffled me. i used to love seeing movies, alone or otherwise, and something about always having to go alone to slightly weird indie movies just never really put a smile on my single face. anyway. i'm back! and have a desire to see one (or five) movies that are out right now-->

1. the visitor's trailer is REALLY CHEESY, but somehow i still think it's worth going to see. i just hope i won't come out with a weird need to play a djembe with an old white man.
2. the edge of heaven just got a great review in new york magazine. so shoot me.
3. indiana jones features one of my many boyfriends, shia labeouf. and yes, we have been together since even stevens ;).
4. iron man. because i have to see it, right?
5. and a jihad for love because my job deals quite a bit with islam, and i find myself wanting to learn more and more to counteract my previously deep ignorance of the religion and the culture that comes with it.

haha. those of you who know me thought this post was about someone we know, eh? nope. that will never happen :). read on after the jump...

"i'm through with white girls" is a movie, and one that i think i may want to see? just for the kitsch factor? just to be able to say i actually heard those words come out of a blipster man's mouth (even if it is for a script)? ;p. whatevs. check out the site!

i'm sorry but this movie was so much fun

okay, so there were the usual fucked up representations of difference, this time most offensively in the form of a young japanese woman whose accented "exchange student" english made sonj and i cringe every time, but there is something about a movie that represents the breadth of hiphop culture in the world. the acting was horrible and the script horribler;), but we saw a different face of the breaking community come out- not as something weird and nerdy, but as the crazy underdog! when was the last time you saw a multiracial crew break it down on camera? (um, never?) and, of course, the dancing was wiiiiiiiiiillllld!!!!

sooooooooooooo how excited am i that one of my boyfriends, the now beautifully silvered will smith, timed his new movie "i am legend" to come out alongside my 25th birthday?

big willie also coordinated things so that the "i am legend" new york premiere would be happening at madison square garden, which is directly in front of my building of employment. thanks will, sweetheart! one problem- you didn't arrive while i was sitting staring out of my coworker's window at the entrance, you silly goose!

i cannot wait to watch will and his dog kick some zombie ass. now i know will has his flaws, as one of my coworkers so decisively decried his homophobic tendencies back in the day on the fresh prince as well as in bad boys I and II, but you have to hold it down for a black man married to a black woman with black children who is not denzel washington. a man who tried, i think, to push the american public to interrogate the meaning of being a young black male. maybe i'm going too far. maybe i'm remembering it the way i wanted it to be, and not the way it was. but i do heart will smith. i mean, jada even had a mustache for a minute! talk about being open and accepting!

the entertainer

1) this is my 101st blog post! yay! i'm glad i'm back to writing, especially because it's about things other than my broken/breaking/confused heart. my heart has figured itself out, and i now have time to entertain.
2) entertaining is a lot of fun. i had friends over last night, and then melissa and i had a few friends over for dinner tonight, and i am such a happy camper! i am truly my parents' daughter in that i love inviting people into my home. i like to bring people into my presence. we osbornes are quite the social butterflies...though i'm more like a social caterpillar. :)
